Our Philosophy and Biography

The Name
Vesper is Old English for nocturnal; of the night.

The Sound
Sweeping and emotional; Vesper has been classed as Indie Groove Rock being likened to the Counting Crows and early U2. Hailed by the Sun Post as “a passionately original band” Vesper was recognized three years running by the Orange County Music Awards as one of the “Best Live Acoustic Bands in Orange County.”  Coast Magazine calls the music “beautiful…poetic” and writes, “Vesper may not be a household name…yet.” 944 Magazine adds, “the Vesper sound blends smoky singer-songwriter dynamics to pop sensibilities” and the OC Register goes even further penning: “Vesper is no longer among Orange County's best-kept musical secrets. Vesper's sound will likely please fans of a wide range of artists, from Coldplay to Jeff Buckley.”

The Players
Vesper is led by singer-songwriter and introverted front man, Isaiah Mickelson.  Haunting guitar tones and keys are provided by Jason Owen.  John Simon provides soulful bass lines with newcomer Dan Radin supplying the indelible backbeat.

The People
Music speaks to the human heart as few things in our known universe can. There is a power, energy and symmetry unmistakable between the song, its players and the people. Vesper seeks to honor this connection; the simple result is a growing base of steadfast friends and lovers of honest, original music. 

The Goal
As simple as it is complex…our goal is to capture and be captured…every time we play.
